This week’s Monday Night Football means two of the best receivers in the league will be facing off on the main stage. All eyes will be on Odell Beckham Jr. and A.J. Green, two of the top ten wideouts in the NFL as the Bengals travel to MetLife Stadium to face the Giants (8:30 p.m. ET).
Green should be the toughest opponent the Giants have faced yet, as he has the second most receiving yards (896) while Beckham has risen to seventh (676) and sits one yard shy of Antonio Brown for sixth.
Still, since going without a touchdown through his first four games, OBJ has been on a hot streak, recording five TDs opposed to Green, who has only found the end zone three times this season despite a league-high 59 receptions.
The stars are aligned for Beckham and Green to go toe to toe with an athletic display. This match could easily look like the stunning individual performances last week in a game between another two top-ten receivers, Mike Evans and Julio Jones, when the two combined for 261 yards and 3 TDs.
It’s a bold thought to assume Beckham and Green can also total such incredible numbers, but after OBJ’s 222-yard game, anything is possible.
Matchups between two talented teams with superstars are what primetime football is all about, especially with each team still having so much to prove as they sit in the middle of the pack of their respected divisions. All of that adds up to make for what should be a tough, physical game with big plays, big risks, and big thrills.
