Odell Beckham Jr. Ranked 8th Best in the NFL

POSTED BY: ODELL BECKHAM JR in NEWS

The question wasn’t if he’d make it. It was just a matter of how high he would go.

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was ranked No. 8 in the “Top 100 Players of 2017” as determined by his peers. For the seventh consecutive year, current players filled out ballots to determine the best players in the league. NFL Network began to roll out the 2017 edition the Monday after the 2017 NFL Draft, unveiling 10 players each week until the final group was announced tonight. This year's list received the most votes from current NFL players in the history of the series.

It was the three-time Pro Bowler’s third appearance on the list in as many years in the league. Beckham was also the fourth Giant to make the cut this season, the most for the team since boasting five players in the wake of winning Super Bowl XLVI. Safety Landon Collins (No. 28), cornerback Janoris Jenkins (No. 54), and defensive tackle Damon Harrison (No. 96) were the others for 2017.

Last season, Beckham (No. 10) placed higher than any Giant in the history of the list, beating defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul’s ranking of No. 24 in 2012.

This year, he outdid himself.

• First Giants player to play in the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons since Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor from 1981-83.
• Fewest games (30) to reach 200 receptions in NFL history.
• Fewest games (30) to reach 3,000 receiving yards in NFL history.
• Beckham increased his career totals to 288 receptions, 4,122 yards, and 35 touchdowns, which all shatter the previous franchise records for a player in his first three seasons. On the Giants’ career lists, Beckham’s 288 catches place him 12th, his 4,122 yards are 15th, and his 35 touchdown receptions leave him in a four-way tie for fifth.
• Beckham’s 35 touchdown receptions are the most in the NFL since the start of the 2014 season.
• Beckham, who played all 16 games for the first time in 2016, finished with 101 catches. That was the third-highest total in the NFL and the second-highest total in Giants’ history, behind Steve Smith’s 107 receptions in 2009.
• Beckham, who caught 91 and 96 passes in his first two seasons, has three of the four-highest single-season totals in franchise history.
• Beckham has two of the top three, and three of the top five, single-season receiving yardage totals in Giants history.
• Beckham led the Giants in scoring with 60 points last season. He was the first non-kicker to lead the Giants in scoring since 1992, when running back Rodney Hampton finished with 84 points. The last wide receiver to lead the Giants in scoring was Homer Jones in 1967.
• Beckham’s four games with at least 100 yards in 2016 increased his three-year total to 19, the second-highest total in Giants history. Amani Toomer had 22 – in 13 seasons.
